Today I taught a volunteers, leaders, and support staff workshop for a church. I taught what a true MVP is. The letters MVP do not stand for Most Visible Player. The letters MVP stand for Most Valuable Player.
The pastors and leaders upfront, on stage, and others who are the most visible to the congregation and community are the Most Visible Players but those in the room today are the Most Valuable Players. If we remove them, it all falls apart. We see and recognize the value of what they do as volunteers, leaders, and support staff. Without speaking to the Sr. Pastor, who also taught the same workshop today and did not hear my segment, he communicated the same thing.
I showed the before picture of my shoulder break. The right side of the shoulder is sticking way out instead of being smooth like the rest of the upper humerus. The bone is not only broken away but it is full of all sorts of fractures & cracked like an eggshell.
I showed the after picture from my surgery a few weeks ago. I told them the Most Valuable Players are the screws and washers buried beneath the surface of my shoulder holding it all together. The Most Valuable Players in my shoulder are not the most visible. In fact they are not visible at all. It takes a specialist or doctor to recognize it. If I were to pull my shirt back, they would not see the screws and washers. The screws and washers are not visible or The Most Visible Players but THEY ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS in my shoulder. If I pull the screws and washers out, it all falls apart.
You are valuable, even if your not visible. The right people recognize it. In fact, sometimes its the invisible that makes you indivisible, just ask the Holy Spirit.
